Project Description

SRT was part of the design team for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Harry Tracy Water Treatment Plant Long Term Improvements Project (HTLTIP), aimed to prepare the HTWTP for a large seismic event. SRT has worked on the design of new filters to add to the existing filter capacity, an emergency disinfection facility, and the associated yard piping to prepare the HTWTP for a large seismic retrofit.

Unique Challenges

A diverse team consisting of specialists from various consulting firms and SFPUC engineering design staff designed the HTLTIP. Working as part of the team required keen attention to detail and continuous coordination with the other team members.

Value Added By SRT

SRT provided value by proposing a solution of integrating new filters into the existing sedimentation basin that was not being used by SFPUC. This idea allowed the team to locate the filters away from the newly discovered seismic fault lines, saving design and construction costs.
