Moccasin Water System Compound Filtration Plant Design
Client
San Francisco Public Utilities Commission
Location
MOCASSIN, CA
Project Description
SRT designed a new, ultrafiltration membrane plant tying into the existing Moccasin Compound Water System in Moccasin, CA. This plant is part of the San Francisco Public Utility Commission’s Hetch Hetchy Water & Power (HHWP) system, which supplies the greater Bay Area with clean, reliable, safe, potable water and power and includes a hydroelectric power plant. We performed an extensive alternatives analysis for different surface water treatment technologies, resulting in a technical solution that provides reliability and flexibility for this system. With SRT’s intervention, other sources in the system can be taken offline for repairs and regularly planned outages, allowing SFPUC to access Moccasin Reservoir water while the primary water source is unavailable. SRT collaborated with other technical professions (geotechnical, I&C engineering, structural) and performed all analysis, conceptual design, 100% plans and specifications, cost estimate and project management from inception through engineering services during construction (ESDC).
Unique Challenges
