Project Description

SRT developed a set of tools for supervisors in the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s Wastewater Enterprise (WWE) to support new hires, enabling the organization to structure clear pathways for team members to succeed. We created a comprehensive package that includes setting clear expectations for performance and development opportunities, a schedule with milestones, tracking tools, and reference materials for supervisors including checklists and templates. SRT developed a structure for administrators in each group within WWE to support supervisors with check-in milestones and key schedule points in the tracking process. We created the tools for supervisors and administrative staff need to provide their team with the appropriate resources and establish plans for employees to receive any support required to meet the shared expectations. SRT staff to implement the package, including building resource sites on WWE’s internal SharePoint, training supervisors, managers, and administrative staff, and developing standardized performance expectation forms for applicable job classifications in addition to making a suite of off-the-shelf forms that supervisors based on the employee’s responsibilities.

Unique Challenges

  • SRT skillfully addressed the challenge of developing a new management procedure constructively and productively while avoiding burdens that can accompany additional procedures. SRT expertly guided implementation and adoption of the new process through training and onboarding.

We developed schedules, milestones, forms and tracking criteria for employees to progress along comprehensible pathways and manage expectations.
